More about Brooke
Q. What publisher are you with?
A. Next Chapter
Q. What Genres do you write?
A. Romance, Fantasy, and Paranormal
Q. What was your first pop-up event?
A. The pop-up that stands out to me the most was DC Pride 2024. I was already excited to go to my first time at DC Pride but meeting so many new readers was a thrill I hope to never forget.
Q. What made you start writing?
A. I started writing because I was sick of reading my favorite genres and never seeing me or my relationship in them. I asked, what if I wrote this vampire romance, but with lesbians? What came out wasn’t anything like what I’d been reading, and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out!
Q. What is your latest book? How did you get the idea? When does it come out?
A. My latest book is the last book of The Warrior Series trilogy. It’s been a long time coming. I haven’t known what to do with it for the longest time. But I finally figured out where it was going and I’m aiming to have it published in late 2025.
Q. Do you use the same creative process for each book? If so, what is it? If not, how does it change?
A. In a word, yes. The way I explain it is this: Writing my stories is like driving through a long dark tunnel. I know where I start, and where I am at this moment, and a scene or two ahead, and I know I’ll end up with a happy ending, but I don’t know what next is happening until I get closer to it. It’s a mystery to me, just like it will be to the readers!
Q. Do you have a newsletter? Why should people subscribe? What is in each newsletter/it’s frequency?
A. I send out a newsletter every 2 weeks on Friday or Saturday. I tell a little about what’s been going on, give links to cool people or places I’ve discovered, and update any news about my books or where I’ll be. But maybe the best part is, newsletter subscribers get an exclusive first read of character backstories, shorts, and even my wip in all it’s unedited glory! You can sign up here: http://tinyurl.com/BC-Newsletter.
Q. You’re in charge of hosting brunch for a dozen people, what is on the menu? (Money is no object, so you can have it catered if you’d like)?
A. At my brunch for a dozen people, I’d offer sourdough biscuits dripping with butter and hot honey, poached eggs topped with crabmeat, all slathered in bright hollandaise, crispy bacon curls, and sourdough cinnamon rolls glistening with icing. And of course, all the coffee, tea, and drinking chocolate you can handle.
